Take 1

Sometimes it is necessary to refer to a slide that appeared earlier in the talk.  Here the student searches through his presentation to find the slide.  This uses valuable time and makes him seem unprepared.

Here the speaker wants to refer to a slide from earlier in the talk.  Instead of rifling through his slides, he inserts a copy of that slide in the appropriate part of his talk.
